April 8, 2013

 Dear CLYLP Supporters:

We are pleased to inform you that staff applications for the 31st Annual Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project (CLYLP)Sacramento Leadership Conference are now being accepted. A team of support staff, peer counselors and facilitators will be selected to provide mentorship and supervision to students who will be selected to participate in the summer conference. To ensure full availability and accessibility for the student participants and conference team, all participating conference staff will be required to attend a mandatory orientation on Friday, July 19, 2013 and stay on site in Sacramento for the duration of the conference (through July 27, 2013). The application deadline for the CLYLP Sacramento Leadership Conference Staff is May 3, 2013.

Founded in 1982, the CLYLP is a volunteer-run, non-profit, non-partisan organization, which receives major support from the California Latino Legislative Caucus, the University of California system, the California State University system and over 50 private foundations and organizations. More than 3,000 California high school students have participated in the summer conference with over 90% of CLYLP participants going on to attend college. Through the training and tools provided at the conference, CLYLP alumni become successful leaders in both the public and private sector, becoming, among other things, successful educators, policymakers, business persons, doctors and attorneys. Open to current 10th and 11th grade California high school students, the week-long conference will take place in Sacramento at the California State University, Sacramento campus from July 20th -- July 27th, 2013.
